U.S. Navy Actions

 

During the Attack on PUEBLO

No fighters were sent to PUEBLO's aid during the attack by North Korea. Later, the U. S. Navy sent a task force with at least three aircraft carriers, including their protection and support vessels, to the Sea of Japan off Wonsan, North Korea to backup the U. S. demands for release of the PUEBLO and her crew.

Communication with the Crew's Families

Each crew member's family was assigned to naval Casualty Assistance Officer whose duties were to assist the families with administrative matters and provide them with information.
